What is the best way to get an IT-security job with the government?

I only have two years of college but would like to get an IT-security job with the government. How should I go about doing it? Is there any entry level jobs requiring no previous experience that would get my foot in the door to higher paying jobs? Is there any government programs that would help pay for the additional educational requirements for the job?

If you want that job now. Sorry, Forget about it. Nowadays, you'll have to start out as a Tech, Then You'd have to start out with a Network + Cert. And Network+ Security Cert. Plus CCNA cert, and you Cisco Cert. OH...... You'll need experience too. My opinion is to join a branch of the military to get this started

Yes - you can have all of that - join the Army - you'd be amazed how many career choices there are. Just make sure you get your career choice IN WRITING before you sign anything. If you know anyone who has been in - take them with you - recruiters lie like none other. Since you have some college you could probably go in at a higher rank than private - so there is your first pay raise - tah dah.

On the flip side - you'll be going to Iraq. If they tell you that you "probably won't" or "might not" they are lying. You're going! Not that going to Iraq is a bad thing - just something you should consider very seriously.
