Human Resources Generalist as an entry point into HR. You can certainly go in a variety of directions from there: HR Manager, Recruiter, Retention Manager* (not common currently)... You can also go to the outside (no cert needed and typically not where you'd go with a cert), and work in a staffing firm, or executive search firm.
Note: Human Resources will become much more important over time as a discipline, because there is a scarcity in high level talent to meet the need of the changing work force dynamic (not my idea - check with the us department of labor). I know everyone is freaking out about outsourcing, but seriously we have a gap here in the us between the professionals we need and the professionals we have.
Good luck!
