I am a freshman at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and major in air traffic control. I am worried that if i screw up at my job in the future, I will have no way to get another job. So I am thinking to minor in Aviation Safety and maybe meterology too. I am concernced about whether a minor in Aviation Safety can get me a job at FAA if I really screw up as an air traffic controller. Thanks a lot!
Being a pilot, I don't know much about what's required to be in ATC, however, remember this. I don't want to try to bash your choice of college, but Embry Riddle is a money making machine. If they tell you that you need a degree in anything with the words "Aviation" in it, don't believe them. Go to faa.com and see what the actual requirements are, or talk to real ATC'ers. Get a degree in something else, then still try to go for your job in ATC. That way, you have a backup.
