How can I improve my chances of landing a job when I have no work experience?

I am a sophomore in college, and plan on applying for a job at the local animal shelter. The problem is that I have never actually had a real job before. I have babysat children and a dog before, and also worked at a concessions stand, but those aren't "real" jobs.

The job description say that experience is preferred but not necessary. Also, It feels strange to leave the previous work experience section blank.

What can I do?

Be honest. There is more that employers look at than past job experience. If you are in school they could see that you are responsible and can learn things easier than a person whom has a high school education. There are many factors that they can look at other than experience.

If its not neccessary but desired, they mean they will train you if needed but they dont want to have to baby sit you all day. like they want a fast learner. just apply for it. usually vet techs dont require exp to learn. Im applying ot jobs as well for entry level people. try hotjobs.com and put in your location, lots of jobs come up
